Please can someone offer some advice as my first ever hatch is underway and not going well :( Temp is as it should be and the humidity is sitting right as well. I have 1 egg that's cracked and burst and is leaking gunk below, I can't open and remove it as I'm in "lockdown". 1 egg pipped about 15 hours ago and I can see the end of the beak poking out but no sign of movement/chirping since this happened 15 hrs ago. Is this one dead or just resting for a really long time? I've no idea. The second egg has a small hole in it now, again this happened about 15 hrs ago. All I can see in this whole is dark and again no movement/chirping. The eggs are pekins. Appreciate any advice as I'm starting to worry. Thanks :)

I am not a hatcher - this is a rough spot - I have contacted folks below who may be able to help.

@lj2016 it's been a few hours since your post. Can you give us an update?

Ducks can take a very long time to hatch after their initial pip. Even pushing 48 hours is not uncommon. If you can see a bill and it doesn't seem distressed, it will rest alot along the way. They like to test our patience!

You need to remove the burst and leaking egg... that bacteria could endanger new hatched ducklings... lockdown is a guideline, not set in stone... situations like this are exceptions...

Thank you all so much. I'll take the leaky one out right away. The egg where I can see the end of the beak is still the same, no movement or chirping that I've seen/heard. I've been checking every few hours and not once seen movement of any kind. It's gone 24 hrs now so maybe you think i should give it more time? The other egg that's pipped I can't see a beak so I'm not sure what's happening with that one. Again I really appreciate the advice, thank you

Go ahead and check those pipped ones when you remove the leaky one... keep some warm wet sponges nearby to pop into the bator as soon as you close it to keep humidity up...

Thank you. Silly question sorry but what am I looking for when I check them. Just looking to see for any movement?
