I am having my first set of babies and one has had an external pip for more than 24 hours. At first the membrane on the outside was white and paper looking but now it is beginning to turn a yellowish. Does this chick need help? Two more have pipped on the bottom I think one more is dead and one is chirping a away. I could be wrong which I have many other times before with this hatch. Could someone please help me? I am worried sick. :(

I had my humidity on 90% and was told it was too high so I am in the process of lowering it. I believe it is on around 80% at the moment. I was told If I have condensation on the inside of the windows that the humidity was too high. However I have seen humidity a lot towards the end when I was trying to get humidity up for hatching.

They are on day 20. How much more should I drop it? And what do you think I should do about this chick. It internally pipped almost 48 hrs ago and had the external pip for over 24 hours. I tried posting and asked if I could put the humidify too high and got no response. I feel terrible.

I would say don't get too sad about it if the chick doesn't make it. I can't even tell you how many chicks I've had die. There's not much you can do about it, and some people get so sad about their animals not making it. If it doesn't make it, it's not the end of the world. I once hatched out seven guinea fowl that I had worked on for 24 days non stop turning every day with my own hands, checking the temperature and the humidity and everything, and only seven out of 30 eggs hatched, and the day after they hatched two died. Then, two weeks after they hatched, we put them out in our barn with a heat lamp and a box and other chicks. The next morning I went out to check on them, and they were all dead. I don't know what happened. so if your chick doesn't make it, I'm really sorry.

Sorry I couldn't give any more advice. :(

I am worried. But I won't be devastated if they don't make it. It just makes me feel like a bad chick momma. Lol. And I do hope and pray they all make it. I will do everything in my power to give them the best shot possible. But does anyone know what I should do? Should I help any of them along? Especially the one I can see his beak opening and closing in the external pipped hole which has been there since yesterday morning. He pipped through the internal hole 2 days ago.

I know it's hard to see animals suffer. It makes me feel HORRIBLE! Yes, you just hope and pray, and it will turn out somehow.
