spatcher:
When we moved to our house in 2005 (October), we found thousands of those evil things in all the rooms of the house. Regular bug spray or bug bomb will kill them inside, but short of fumigating the whole neighborhood you will not get rid of them in a hurry.
By now they probably set up camp inside the walls, in the basement, and in every patch of shrub you have in the yard... Yep, you are stuck with them. At least for a while!
So, here is the good news: They seem to come in cycles and the cycles can be shortened. This year we hardly had any. Last year they were moderate, but the year prior was insane!
This is how we dealt with them. So, hang in there, kill as many as you can with bug spray, wash the outside of the house with hose, vacuum up your walls and crevasses. I don't know how cold your area gets, but if its around or below freezing, they will go dormant, and come out in groups throughout the winter. A lot will re-appear in the spring, but so long as you stay on top of them, you stand a chance at reducing the population.
Oh, and we call them ladybugs as well, I have been told they are native to China and have been introduced to America as a way to control aphid (I think) population. Guess it didn't work out
Good luck.
