My incubator has broken..
It’s Sunday and the shops were about to shut. So I managed to source a styrofoam box, heat mat and hydrometer and thermostat…however, I can’t stabilise the temp or humidity! The duck eggs are day 27 and 24..both still alive, the day 27 one is trying to pip the inner membrane.
Current temp 32..then 38.5..then drops again! How can I decrease the humidity too? It’s currently 85%
I’m so worried. Any help gladly taken right now xx

I have a water dish in there I can remove - but then won’t it drop too much?
Or is it a case now of just putting it back in when the humidity drops and taking it out when it gets too high again?
I’m so nervous now lol. I love these ducks already! Xx

It’s ok to have high humidity like that, you want it high while they are hatching, it softens the egg and and makes it easier for them to hatch, just try to keep the temp within a a few degrees, it’s not as bad for it to fluctuate at that age because they’re not in a critícale part of development, just try to stabilize it within a couple of degrees, you don’t want to make any hasty adjustments, or that will also cause it to fluctuate, keep it in a room that has a steady temperature. Good luck!!

Thank you so much for your reply!
I was worried because the eggs have a misting of water on them now - wasn’t sure if this was bad or not? Xx
