HELP!! (Please)

I’ve been up every hour tonight checking temps! One of the eggs is now day 28 and no pip internally and I can’t see movement..I haven’t picked the egg up out of the incubator though.
So do I just wait now? At what point should i do anything or get the eggs out to candle to check properly for movement?
The temps have fluctuated between 36-38..5!
I’m so sad at the thought of them not making it when we were so close before the initial incubator broke.
Just need some guidance on when i check things properly and when I intervene xx

You can take them out to candle anytime until the external pip
Before that it won’t cause any harm at all
I candle all mine everyday until I see the first external pip
The temp being lower may cause a delay in hatch so don’t panic
I would put a little less water in the bowl or use a bit smaller bowl to get the humidity a bit lower if you can
I myself run around 65-70 off hatch

Being under those temperature swings, will definitely delay it a little, I would not open the incubator until after they hatch, if there is a crack in the egg that you can’t see (such as underneath it) it could die, because when all that dry air comes in Like that it will instantly shrink the membrane and essentially “shrink rap” the baby inside. 85 is fine ( remeber they’re waterfowell whose mothers come in soaking wet every day) try not to go higher though, (65-75 is better)

Thank you for your reply. I will have a better look at them in a while then. I’ve finally got the temperature stable.
I’ve resigned myself to the fact they may not hatch - because if I get too excited and they don’t I’m going to be more sad than my kids! lol. Xx

shrink wrapping is rare, even if there is a pip, you would have to have the incubator open for
a decent amount of time for the egg to shrink wrap. In this situation, its best to keep checking humidity and ensuring the babies are coping okay.

Do you have a thermostat which you could use to control temp?
Can you candle carefully and check for movement?

Thank you :)
The humidity is sitting at around 75% or just lower now. I’m pretty sure one of the babies has died, the day 25 one. But I have seen a slight movement of the day 28 one - but I’m worried now that if I don’t do something soon it may die?
I’ve never been so stressed! lol.
The temp does go up to 38.5 so I just lift the lid briefly to bring it back down a bit…it’s working so far but I’ve not left their side! I’m exhausted lol.
All because the initial incubator broke!! What incubators are good?
Xx

Ive heard Brinsea incubators are pretty good, I'm not familiar with other brands. Personally I have a cheap one that works okay but needs certain precautions taken.

Can you see any veins in the day 25 egg?
I hope day 28 survives. Dont rush in, wait for an internal pip. Can you hear any chirping or tapping from the egg when you talk to it? Can you see any dark bruising on the shell?

Thanks, will have a look at those!
I can still see veins on the day 25 one but no movement :(

The day 28 one was actively trying to pip yesterday but not doing it today, she’s moving though not as active as she has been. She doesn’t look like she’s near the air sac now though..that’s what worries me.
No bruising on the shell - is that good? What would it be if there was? Xx
