Hi! I'm in the same boat as you - I've got 3 indian runner ducks on day 27, one has halfway zipped and is making lots of chirps but the other two have no chirping or signs of pipping - getting a bit worried. How are your other 2 eggs getting on?Here is the hole...
How long has your duck been zipping for?Hi! I'm in the same boat as you - I've got 3 indian runner ducks on day 27, one has halfway zipped and is making lots of chirps but the other two have no chirping or signs of pipping - getting a bit worried. How are your other 2 eggs getting on?
First external pip on Monday night and has been zipping for about 16 hours. How long has your duck been zipping for?
Looks like it’s absorbed everything, it just has a slightly open navel. Nothing to be too concerned about. I usually put a drop of iodine on the navels of mine but you don’t have to. If you want to pop it on some paper towel in there to protect the area, and let it rest, that should be fine. Here is the hole...
Hey so this morning whatever was on it has dried. Its head is dried stiff but still to move. Stuck on it's back most the night I think due to the stickiness. Still pips at me when I go check on it. Belly button almost closed just a tiny bit of whiteness from moist skin. Should I take it out keep it warm and try to wash off whatever is dried on it? Humidity is 76% this morning temp 98Looks like it’s absorbed everything, it just has a slightly open navel. Nothing to be too concerned about. Hatching is hard work, especially when you take the wrong exit! The yellow is probably just normal fluid from inside the egg; if the yolk ruptures, it looks like normal yolk. If it’s kind of clear with a yellow tinge, that’s normal.
They haven't done much I'm going to externally pip for them today once I figure out what to do with the little one that's in there. Its struggling so I don't want to make any drastic changes to its environment at the moment. Goodluck. I hear from pip to zip can take as long as 48 hours so dont stress it to hard. I had a pip and zip done in 23hours from the 1st one but she is feistyHi! Ok so it's still alive this morning, pipping at me when I go check on it. It has something dried, hard and sticky on it. What can I do. Hole is mainly closed just a tiny but of whitish flesh. It can barely move I think due to what has dried. I dont understand how anything has dried in there humidity is 77% and temp 98. Poor sweet babyHere is one that I found about a duck...
"In a situation like this you should put the duckling upright in a cup or something similar, with it's bottom in the shell still, wrapped in a damp cloth to help keep the sac moist and leave it in the incubator with the humidity high until it's finished absorbing the yolk." This duck also did fine and was dragging the egg around.
