HI all

I was hoping for some advice. I have four chickens which I have had for a couple of years and all have been fine up to now.
Yesterday when I was cleaning them out I noticed one of the seemed very lethargic and wasn’t to interested in the corn I treated them to. Today she seems worse, just sitting in her pen, we picked her out and she had some water but proceeded to throw it back up!! She ate also a bit of lettuce but looked so tired we put her back to bed. She was really wet, especially under her chin and also she felt really warm and I am sure she has diarrhea. All other 3 chicks are fine. I can’t separate them and I am at a loss what to do! Please help!

What is her crop like? Feel it in the morning. Is it hard, or is it large and balloon like? Have you ever wormed your chickens? To correctly diagnose your hen, we need more information.

She might be reacting to the heat, needing cooled off in some cool, not cold water. If you don't think it is heat related, check her crop to see if it is empty. She may have sour crop since she threw up. Check her all over especially under her vent for lice and mites. Has she been wormed recently? Since she is so ill, I might hold off worming until she is a little better. Coccidiosis should be consided even though chickens her age should be immune by now. Corid is the treament. Here is a link for sour crop: http://www.the-chicken-chick.com/2012/04/answers-from-chicken-vet-on-impacted.html
