We are in central Texas and have about 15 birds that need to go in the freezer. Anyone know of a place to take them to be processed? I don't have a plucker or a scalding pot so 15 is a lot to pluck.

15 is certainly a lot to pluck but not too many if you choose to skin instead. As for a scalding pot. I used to use the largest pot I have in my regular set of pots and pans and that worked fine. Then I started canning and now I use my canning pot - perhaps you have something you can use and don't even know it?

I do have a canning pot, just need to find a heat source for outside. If I can do that I can build a small drill based plucker.

We only do a few birds at a time. Yesterday we did 6. 8 is about the maximum for us to do in one day. We heat water on the stove and dump it in a 5 gal. bucket. We pluck by hand. Later this week we will do 6 more. We are down to 40 birds.
