Help!!! Prolapse with egg sticking out . Graphic pics

I hadn't used sugar at all in the pictures. That's urates. Originally it felt like it was completely covered in tissue but after about a 1/2 hr in a warm tub i was able to feel the egg and then I just kept rolling back the skin all the while holding the egg so I didn't push it in farther.

I just checked her a little while ago and it's gone down some and looks like she passed urates but no poop. I think maybe she did eat a little as it felt like there was something in her crop. I'll try the perperation H tomorrow if it's not all the way down.

Here's a picture of the egg. She is eating but hasn't really had a poop yet. She acts okay. I used preperation H last night and tried to gently push everything back in. Not sure how far to push in. I'm going to give her a bath today since her back side is a mess. Anyone ever have one of these and did it work or did you end up culling her. Everything I've read says to cull and that it doesn't work. Just hoping someone can give me a little hope.

It's really not a very big egg.

I think you did a fantastic job! Hopefully she will begin to eat and drink again and it will be a one time incident. You can always wait and see if it happens again and then cull her. The one that I had inside yesterday that I got all the internal stuff out the same way you did did not recover; but that wasnt a perfect egg like you got. I think there is hope for your chicken. Just gave her a bath. She is pooping some but still has stuff sticking out her vent. It looks white kinda like papertowels. Not sure what it is. Maybe dried skin. I'm afraid if she layes again she'll hurt herself more. Guess we'll just see how it goes in a few days.

Can you please post an update on your hen?

I just went through the same thing with my silkie pullet, ended up cutting the membrane to let the egg slip out.

Now she has a mass of fless hanging from her vent, I don't know what to do!!

I had a hen do exactly this and she pulled through like a trooper. Once you get the egg out, clean all you can, use the Preparation H, and try your best to keep her isolated but not totally alone (maybe a cage within the coop, etc.). Chickens get so depressed when they leave their flocks.
