HELP!!!! PULLET LIMPING ON RIGHT LEG!!!!

I have the same problem except my hen got attacked by another hen. Thank goodness my daughter heard the commotion and rescued her. She has been in the house in a box for 3 days now and she has shown some improvement but she won't put any weight on one of her legs. She tries once in a while but collapses back down. She's eating and drinking fine and seems content other than she can't move around.

I don't know what to do either. She's 2 years old and I just lost my job, so I can't see taking her to the vet, but I sure don't want her to suffer.

You would have to contact vets in your area to see who would see chickens. They usually aren't cheap but, you may get lucky.

Thanks. Right now we are just giving her 1/4 of a baby's asprin mixed with a little cat food once or twice a day. Now it's so bad that other than putting Peep in with her for the night and putting the rest of the chicks in the hen house, giving her the asprin-cat food, and letting Peep Speckles, and Lady Lacey out into the run , we can't even go into the coop because she will get up and move around (

SORRY. I CAN'T TAKE A VIDEO BECAUSE WE CAN'T LET HER OUT OF THE CRATE 'CAUSE WERE AFRAID SHE'LL HURT HER LEG.

I feel for you Peepsicle. My hen isn't doing any better today either. Yesterday she kept trying to put weight on her leg and even took off hopping across the yard. Today she doesn't even want to stand up.

EMERGENCY!!!!!!!!! I was so busy snuggling her and making her eat and drink, that I forgot to take pictures, (

), but now, under the edge of the top scale-like-things on her bad leg, her skin is turning black!! I'm hoping that it's just bruised and that it's a good sign, but I'm also really scared. I'll get a pic soon if I can. ANY SUGGUESTIONS WELCOME!!!!!

BTW, we called around for a vet, but nobody looked at chickens.

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!

Sounds like she might need an antibiotic. I've no experience with something like this but, I would think that you would need a broad spectrum antibiotic.

Good luck.

By looking nat the picture, it appears she may have slight swelling on the pad of her right foot. Compare it to the left pad and see if that is the case. If so, PM me and I will guide you through a "bumblefoot" cure.

Peepsicle, what little I know I concur with Rebel Soldier, bumblefoot. In the pics there appears to be a general swelling of her rt. foot plus a "kernal" swelling like a human boil. Here's a GRAPHIC video of bumblefoot surgery,
. I'm squeamish, but if came to the survival of one of the girls, I'd have to man up and do what had to be done. BOL!
