It is common in warm weather when mosquitoes are active. Fowl pox lasts about 3 weeks. The dry form is usually not too serious unless the whole face is covered with scabs. The wet form is more dangerous, and causes yellow gunk inside the beak and throat, and can be found in the esophagus or trachea on autopsy. Antibiotics will do nothing for pox, since it it s avirus, but secondary bacterial infections in the eyes when scabs near eyes may become infected, may be treated with plain Neosporin or Triple Antibiotic Ointment.
