I have a Muscovy hen sitting on eggs, and she hatched one duckling 30 min ago! Still 3 eggs under her. Baby is so cute! My question is, what do I do?! I have baby duck food. Do I need to make an area in the coop for her and the baby so they are blocked off from the other ducks? I have a baby waterer and feeder. This is our first time! Do I need to set up a heat lamp?

Just make sure that the babies can't get in a water container that they can't get out of and they should be fine with just the mama.she will care for them. At first watch how any drakes that you have react to ducklings. Usually they are fine on their own.

Thank you! Have one drake, and he hasn't noticed the baby yet. If I put out chick food, the others will eat it all. Do I need to block mom off from the rest for a few days? I feed a pellet duck food, but have a bag of crumble for chicks.

Yes block the others from the mom and ducklings the ducklings don’t need to eat for about 2-3 days once all eggs hatch make sure all ducks can see mom and babes but can’t get to them. She’ll let you know when she is ready to take them out.

Thank you! Heat lamp on mom and babies or no?

Yes ,you will have to block her off somewhat since you feed the adults pelleted feed. If they all ate crumbles it probably wouldn't be a problem. I can't imagine that they would need any heat other than momma. My silkies regularly hatch and brood chicks in weather as low as 20s.

Duckling is 1 day old now. They are separate from the rest of the flock, and have their own food and water. Mama is VERY protective. We had to move her to their new location, and my husband had to put on welding gloves! This is our first time ever hatching chicks. She is still sitting on 3 other eggs. They are very dark in color. Today is day 37. How long do we let her sit on those three before we have to take the eggs out? It doesn't look like she has brought her duckling to food or water yet.

Put food and water close by she probably won't get up till the eggs hatch of you take them. Make sure the water container isn't where ducklings can get in and drown I use a chick waterer for first week and put a bucket up on bricks for mama. after first week babies need something like this. Hope more hatch. I'd give her till Sat then maybe take the eggs out smell and candle before tossing.
