help!! red mite outbreak!!

Dawg says on the back of the neck, just make sure you part the feathers so the medicine gets on the skin, not the feathers.

I put it on the bare skin under the wing, then I hold them for a while to make sure it absorbs into the skin.

great, thank you so much. Do I just apply once, or do I need to do it again in a few days.
Simular to worming, where you need to apply again 10 days later.

just making sure of the directions

is this what I need for the Eprinex?

I see that the box says pour on, I am just making sure that it is the same
thing. I do not have a farm and fleet or tractor supply close to me so I plan
to order online. Before I placed the order I just wanted to make sure I had
the correct item.

Also, if anyone has a preferred company for which to order from, can you please
provide me the name or link to their site.

Thanks so much.

sorry again for al the questions. You all are being so very helpful, thank you so much.

For the pyrethrin spray, is this what I need to get? I just want to make sure before I purchase it.
I found it at walmart on their website.

Thanks.

Sorry again, one more question for you all out there.
After I use the eprinex on the girls to kill the mites
do I still need to dust them?

I was not sure if additional dusting was necessary or not.

Thanks again to all of you who are being so helpful. I appreciate it so much.

You only would want to dust inside the hen house including nests and roosts, use sevin dust. Obviously you cant use liquids due to freezing temps. Keeping everything as dry as possible is imperative. Clean out the coop first, remove the litter away from the coop or burn it (mites/larva/eggs will be in the litter also.) Then put a pile of sevin dust at the entrance to their house, then hit it full blast with a leaf blower. It'll look like a smoke bomb went off inside it. I guarantee you the dust will get in every crack and crevice and will take awhile to settle. Make sure there arnt any chickens inside, wear a mask and old clothes.

That is perfect dawg, thanks for the info I will do that today.

How often to I need to apply eprinex? Will once do it for the mites?

Thanks so much, your information is so helpful.

if you provides them diatomaceous earth as dust, they´ll control the mites themselves. I ge the diatom in ecodiatomite.com, best prices. Try it,

Red mites live in the wood of the coop. Red mites spend very little time on your birds. So you could conceivable have the Red Mites kill a hen without you ever seeing a single mite on her. Therefor DE is ineffective at controlling red mites because it isn't used where the mites live, in the structure of the coop.

One poster on BYC several years ago reported adding some fire ants to a jar of food grade DE then vigorously shaking the jar. Said poster then set the jar aside. After several days living in nothing but pure DE the poster reported that he had a jar full of homesick fire ants.
