Hi,
I have rescued a duck from a nearby park.
He has:
. a swollen left ankle and cant walk
. a respiratory disease because discharge is coming out of his eyes, nose and mouth. His eyes are infected, doesn't clean his face
. wet and falling out feathers
. struggles with physical activity
I was wondering if anyone new any answers for how to help heal my new member of the family.
Thanks, any replies will be much appreciated.
Photos are attached.

I rescue Ducks here...The best thing is to give fresh water and wet the feed to a soupy mix...Hydration is extremely important more than feed...Stressed birds will die if too stressed...possibly he got aspirating water or is panicking....Seen both issues...Cover him in a crate so he feels safe...Make it like a cave....Provide feed, water and warmth with total privacy.....

Hi,
thanks again guys.
He has fresh feed, water and hay.
we have booked an appointment with the vet tonight (the vet said he really likes ducks and that last week he had a duck with a split beak).
This duck is also costing us a pretty penny but we know it is worth it.
He also has total privacy.
I agree, BYC has really helped.
Thanks again.
