funny. I have had my RIR roosters for 3 months now, I have gone and checked on the everyday, all day except when I am at work. I noticed today that they are both having trouble walking, and they sit on their haunches. They will walk a few steps then sit down, and practically fall over. None of my other birds are doing this just those two. When I purchased them I had them vaccinated for merricks, and one other disease. I am still feeding chick starter. Could this be the problem? I am going to quarintine them from the other birds though just incase it is something else. Any ideas what this could be?

Could they have been fighting and are sort of punchdrunk?
How do their poops look?
Could they have gotten into something they should'nt have eaten?
How old are they? You said you've had them for 3 months...did you get them as chicks?
How do their combs look?

I got them as day old chicks. They are approximately 12 weeks old. They haven't been in a fight, and their poops look normal. My section in the barn is sectioned off just for my chickens. I haven't introduced anyone new. No one else has this type of behavior at all. their combs look good bright red, and their eyes are clear. I don't understand it. I am off from work at 10 am tomorrow so I am going to spend the day with them, and observe them. Could it be that they are to old for chick starter, but then no one else has anything wrong from eating it.

check the bottoms of the feet and between the toes for any sore or scab, any swelling or heat.

check legs for swelling or heat.
or crooked at the "knees"..
check the leg scales and see if they appear raised, or have any crust (Scaley Leg Mites)

please describe droppings...color and consistency (very important)

confine them to a small area with very low roosts..(wide boards preferably)..only about 12 inches from the ground...and fresh food and water near by so they can rest the legs..

could be a few things.
some are:
weakness due to deficiency (certain vitamins and calcium=rickets)
cocci and/or worms
some sort of septic arthritis
Bumble foot
Scaley Leg
