Help! We have a Silver Laced Cochin rooster who has far less injury then I’ve seen before, no open wound or blood. 90lb dog bit his left hip/thigh, this morning, he’s constantly extending his leg and he can’t put much weight on it, he’s eating like a horse still and he of all our birds is more like a Dog than a chicken.. looking for advice to help manage his pain and what’s an expected recovery time? Minor feather damage, looks like he was nipped at, not his foot or leg but looking like his thigh.. any help appreciated

Welcome to BYC. I'm sorry to hear about your rooster's injuries.
A baby aspirin can help with the pain, but be aware that aspirin acts as a blood thinner. If he has internal injuries this may be a bad idea.
I'll tag some people who may be able to help.

Look carefully by parting his feathers for any puncture wounds. I would hold of on aspirin, since he needs to rest the leg if it is injured. Limit his activity, no jumping to roosts, and he may be better off in a dog crate with food and water, but he can still be in the coop with the others in the crate. If you find any wounds or punctures, clean with Hibiclens (chlorhexidene) and water. Then apply plain Neosporin or Triple Antibiotic Ointment twice a day after cleaning. It’s possible that he has sprained it or suffered squeezing that has damaged muscle or a nerve. Can you see a vet if needed?
