One of my ~6wk old chicks opted not to take cover from the rain this afternoon with the rest of her baby flock. I found her cold, wet, neck bent back and convulsing. Thanks to info on these boards I brought her back and she is now warm and dry, chirping and awake.
I'm concerned however that she may end up with another issue because of the incident- respiratory or otherwise.
She is still a little weak in trying to walk, but she can v stand for short periods and walks a bit shaky.... seems to tire easily. Will she get stronger over time- it has only been about an hour. When will it be safe to put her back in with the other chicks in the brooder? Any signs to look out for that she needs additional help? She is almost seeming to get too hot under the great lamp, I'm having to move it farther as she starts to pant. More than anything she just wants to be held and cuddled!
Any advice appreciated. I'm beyond relieved that I was able to revive her, and I just hope she really is out of the woods.
Eta: I have given her water with electrolytes but she is not drinking on her own, only if I hold it to her beak. I added some chick food to the water to get more in her, as she is not yet eating. I did try the scrambled eggs but she will not eat them yet. She did have two bowel movements (spaced out)- is that a good sign??

I'm sorry that your post got overlooked. It happens sometimes, especially now with so many new chicken owners. How is your little chick doing?

thanks! I know there are probably many more posts like mine, they can't all be answered.
little chickie is doing fine, now! She was a bit slow for a few days post-trauma, which was concerning. She seemed overwhelmed by the chaos of the other chicks -tended to stay on the outskirts and look off into space, but simultaneously did not want to be separated from them. I wasn't sure if she was ever going to be completely herself again.... But seems to be back to normal now!

So glad that you were able to help your chick survive. BYC has been very busy this time of year with everyone posting about new chicks, that it is good to keep updating your thread for help. Glad that you joined and good luck.
