I don't know what to do with my hen either. Maybe by tonight she will go. With chickens I don't think there is anything else to do... I'm sorry, I feel your pain.

She died too. How the heck... LESS THAN TWO HOURS. They were only slightly sleepy acting and two hours later DEAD. What the heck is going on?! D:

I would shut the rest of them up in their coop and change out their food and water, not let them forage until you check out their environment real well. My guess it is some kind of "poisoning".

If you are able, I'd also take one of their bodies to a vet for some testing, to see what happened. This is horrible

I'm so sorry, I'd be a complete basket case

No vets. Only one out here and they only will treat cats and dogs - no birds, let alone chickens

BUT! Good idea! I did remove the remaining two of my young porcelain D'uccles last night and put them into quarantine cages since whatever it was seemed to just be killing them. If they ate something toxic - those four were grouped together away from the rest of the flock for the most part so that explains at least why only they got sick. It was likely only they who ate whatever it was. I'm going to thoroughly check the coop and run today - but my run is pretty bare. I can't really see anything in it but sand. Whatever is wrong might actually be in the coop which was a sandy bottom too and is harder for me to inspect. My hens have a bad habit of burying their eggs even. Maybe one I couldn't find was buried and exploded and the chicks dug to eat it?... I'll check it out either way

Also, this morning at least there has been no more

deaths.

Is it okay to feed them cracked corn and sunflower seeds in case it was something in their feed until I can get to the feed store for a fresh batch.

Update: Couldn't really find anything in their coop or run or even anything surrounding that maybe they grabbed through the hardware cloth. Nope. So only thing I can think of is something got in their food that only made the babies ill
