My chickens outside: 2 black silkie pullets and 2 polish/silkie crosses...a pullet and a cockerel. In the video stormy looks to be a pullet to me by her behavior and also not a development of a comb really. She or he was more to the ground too but that could also be if juice box is a top that he is more dominant and stormy if she is a roo his behavior would be more like a pullet being lower on the pecking order. Also have these three been introduced to the flock at all? What other breeds do you have because if you are worried about your rooster ratio silkies are usually nicer on the hens in my experience even with them not over mating. So if you are keen on keeping your babies even if a roo then it may work out.
The cockerel is young and very hormonal. I have brought these three babies out there a few times and he was pecking at them quite a bit. Made me nervous. The girls of course were very sweet and gentle with the babies. If anyone's going to get Rehomed or have to go it would be the polish/silkie cross cockerel. (Not juicebox or Stormy) The cockerel Pancake is not that friendly and sometimes too rough with the pullets. He has drawn blood on one of my silkie hens! My two silkies are the sweetest. The polish/silkie crosses are very skittish.
I also think I've spoiled these babies by keeping them inside so long. It would probably be too much of a shock for them to go outside into 15-20 degree weather. I have a separate coop I plan on putting them in. I eventually want to get larger good egg laying hens in the spring and will most likely keep them separate from my silkies. In the meantime, maybe I'll move these babies into the coop in my garage...it will be cold but protected from harsh winds.
