Well my friend is ordering a bunch of chicks and I have the opt to order some meat birds. Like 6 or 7... Is it worth it to raise them for personal use? I just want to try some meat birds. I already have waters, feeders, brooding areas and heat lamps. Then I could keep them in the shed.

Is it worth it for feed costs? And what kind if feed should they have?

Should I go with Cornish x, or something else?

Yes, go for it! You won't be disappointed. You can slaughter around 8 weeks old. They get so big it's like eating a turkey. I'd go Cornish X. I might do more next year.

Do it do it mine went to freezer camp Friday at 8 weeks they weighed a total of 27 lbs, I had 4 they cost me a total of 36$ would of been better if one had not died the night before. 1 bird weighed 9 lbs. Im thrilled as organic meat is 2.65$ per lb.
