Help! Should I get rid of rooster?

I need your help! I have a 5 month old Brahma cockerel who has been displaying some usual signs of dominance. He dances up to me and my 3 year old. He has pecked me when I’ve been to close and just recently ran up to my kid and pecked him. I also noticed he attacked one of my hens and left a wound and she’s scared to come out of run for free range time which never happens. Weird thing is, I pick him up All the time and he always seems so easy going and nice! Generally, he is nice and fun. I really wanted to work with him and try to do anything to keep him. I’ve been trying to show him who is boss, thinking that will help. But now that he has focused in on my kid, who never bothered him before, I’m worried. It was a peck but will it get worse or can I stop it from escalating? I called a rooster sanctuary that will take him but We are devastated about it. I wish I could manage him. Should I try to work with the bird and keep my kid away? Or re home? Thank you.
THIS!

Get rid of him yesterday!
He’s going to the sanctuary tomorrow morning.

I think your child is the priority here! Small children are very vulnerable, and he's not behaving well right now. Your child could loose an eye over this!
He's also injured one of your hens (pullets?) and that's not good either.
He needs to be someone's dinner! At least move him on with full disclosure, where there aren't any small children.
This situation is escalating, and no amount of 'training' will make him safe with your child!!!
Consider having only hens until your child is considerably older.

Give him to the sanctuary. As much as I don't like this for roosters, my tags even say so, 👏human👏lives👏always👏come👏first👏 protect your child. If you really like him, then keep him in a pen where your child is not permitted to enter, but I strongly recommend giving him away, accidents can happen and your child could get hurt
Agreed! Thanks for allowing me the space to vent. He’s going to the sanctuary tomorrow morning

If you want to have a rooster to protect your flock I'd recommend Jersey Giants, I have three and they don't make any aggressive moves towards me or my family. I got Jersey Giants after dealing with a string of aggressive roosters and hearing about how gentle they were. Now that I've had a nice competent rooster I don't have any patience for a rooster who's aggressive to people.

Ugh, I’m sorry you have to make this decision! But I wholeheartedly agree with everyone else here.
My rooster was getting cocky now and then, so I put him in his place several times over a few months span, and I thought we were good. He would avoid me and we didn’t have any run-ins until one fateful day…. He literally came at from nowhere while I was working on the run, he got me with his spur through my pants and put a very deep hole just under my kneecap. I was shocked, and had blood gushing down my leg! When I showed my husband he went and “took care“ of the rooster right away!
I had some PTSD after that  and will tell you it’s not worth the fear every time you want to go hang out with or tend to your hens. Especially with a little one!
I’m sorry mamabear, but we do what we have to :(

This is good info, I’ll look into this breed!
