I have 4 silkies at exactly 4 weeks old. Two are showgirls and two are bearded. My black baby showgirl hasn’t seemed to grow since she was a day old and I’m struggling with her. She still gets pasty butt but I really think temp is fine it’s close enough that she’s never shivering but far enough away that her bigger sibs never sweat. I’ve never had a chick with pasty butt that lasted more than a few days and I’ve raised dozens? Next issue is I put bag balm on every part of her that is bare skin every day but her neck feels like leather and she’s shedding so much dead skin. Her white showgirl sister only needs a little bag balm every few days or she will get a lil flaky but nothing like the black one. As of yesterday one of the black ones eyes crusted closed. I’ve been wiping it with warm water to help her keep it open (her eye looks fine it just starts crusting closed from the outside like a zipper). Then there’s the corner of her beak there’s like mounds of skin??? Scab??? I’m really not sure I’ve tried to pick it a little but I didn’t want to bug her to much.
To help her I’ve been trying to give her a few drops of nutri drench a day. She also has save a chick probiotic and electrolyte water aswell as plain water always available. I also have liquid B-12 but I haven’t tried that with her because I don’t know much about that vitamin yet. Any thoughts on how I can help her she’s already made it so far but it seems poor girl is just getting crustier :’(
