I have six 8 week old light sussex chicks that I hatched in an incubator. They seam to have been fine until now. I noticed yesterday that one of them is just lying on the floor while the others are running around. It's eating and drinking but does it lying on its belly. It will move if you pick it up. Any idea's what's wrong, and will the others follow suit? Should I seperate it from the others?

The vast majority of leg problems are noticed when the vitamin needs of fast-growing chicks exceed the supply. It would not hurt to offer all these chicks a multi-vitamin as you ponder this one. If you can't get poultry vitamins, baby vitamins can be substituted. If you search on this site, you'll see how members have used things like Poly-V-Sol and other products.

Hi Chel, thanks for your reply. The chick can walk when it needs to, and it will move around to different shaded positions in the garden. (They roam freely during the day) The other chicks walk on it and when they are put away, in the hut at night the other chicks are together on the perch and this one is alone on the floor of the hen hut?
