Help sick chick!!

Yes. It will disguise the bare skin so the chick won't continue to be plucked.

If the chick is plucking its own feathers, it could mean it has a protein deficiency. You might up its protein just to be safe. The best protein for a chick, rather than meat or fish, is egg and/or tofu. High quality animal protein could be a bit too much for a small chick's kidneys to handle. Egg and tofu are much milder.

Thanks so much. I’ll try it. It seems like she is plucking her own feathers to boot! I have separated her but you think with Blu-kote I can safely return her to the flock in the brooder??

Try the Blu-kote and return her but keep an eye on her until you see things are going to be peaceful. Blu-kote is maybe 99% effective against picking, but that 1% can defy this rule.
Hi there! Is blue-kite effective against self-pecking? She is really rocking herself bad now. I apply the Vetericyn several times a day but she keeps pecking herself. Gave her egg but she prefers the fermented and dry feed. Not sure what to do …! Thanks.

Mix raw egg into her feed twice a day.

No, the Blu-kote isn't going to be effective against her picking at herself. Self picking can be a compulsive disorder, and those are very hard to deal with. You can try a pick-no-more concoction, but it may not work either.

I've had mixed results over the years trying to alter compulsive behavior in my chickens. This is more successful with developing chicks than adults with established behaviors, so you can have a go trying to use behavior modification if you can devote the time.

This requires imagination and doing things to interrupt her compulsion. These might include thwacking her on the back of the neck or back when she starts nibbling on her neck. You might wrap a thin but tightly woven cloth around her neck. No loose threads or she could choke if she unravels it. Things to divert her attention can help. You might get some ideas here. https://pestpointers.com/scents-that-chickens-hate-and-how-to-use-them/

Thank you so much! This is a tough one. She is sweet, small and can’t stop pecking at herself! I’ll try what I can .

So mix a little bit of raw egg into her feed? Not cooked ..
