I have a 5 year old White Leghorn hen who has been down and out a few weeks now. Lethargic, purple comb, ect. She has a slightly hard abdomen, isn't egg bound (she hasn't laid for 2 years). She sits around and acts really tired for a while, then gets up and is okay, but isn't her normal, loud and energetic self. She does eat and drink, and gets very excited when she gets treats.
Could it be arthritis or something worse? Something internal? Shes also normally very light, but has gained a bit of weight. Could that be because there is something internal?
I really need help, shes my favorite chicken and I don't want her to be in any pain or be uncomfortable.
