HELP! sick chicken

They are going to test to poop of one of my pullets that has had trouble pooping for months also. Thanks for all the info.

Just put her on ice. Both legs were stretched all the way out, not like what is typical of mareks

The symptoms you described weren't suggesting anything in particular. When it's a strange death like that Marek's is a probable cause. I've also heard hemorrhaging to be a cause of mysterious death in chickens. Was she amaciated at all?

If it was mareks do you have any suggestions to what I should do with my other birds?

She seemed fine, just a small chicken. Was eating and jumping to drink yesterday.

Usually if you lose a lot quickly then you should cull them all. But obviously this isn't concluded as Marek's yet. If you have emotional attachment to your flock then I'd try to keep them alive. Remember, everything they touch or are around is now contaminated, and they all will carry it. All the offspring will have it.

Don't panic, just get the necropsy done and deal with the problem when you get the results, which you might get the preliminary cause of death the day they get her.

They told me if I get her there in the morning I might know by the afternoon. Wednesday for sure. I've been working hard on my black copper marans and don't want to have to get rid of them!
