HELP-sick duck my "Chuckie" is weezing with crusty eyes????

This is Chuckie

He is 8 months old?? He is a crested Magie boy. Never been ill. He stays in the coop/garage with the other chickens-It never drops below 20 degrees in there even when it was 18 below the other day. He has water supplied to him at all times-in a small bowl ( myabe not big or deep enough for him to "blow" his nose in???)
He eats the laying food the chickens eat-plus lots of treats veggies ( peas-shredded zuchinni-broccoli etc..) He comes up the house once a week for a bath and a pea diving excursion.. Is it too cold for him outside?? He does not free range since winter hit. He has his own large dog kennel he stays in when Im not home-and sleeps in it locked up. I clean his "house" out 2x a week and replace with fresh hay and pine shavings. Does he just have a simple cold? what do I do for him?

When I took him out-to follow me around for xmas morning feeding he weezed like a donkey and I bent down to look at his eyes and they had hardened crusty yellow stuff in the corners??? Nothing coming from his nose and the crusty stuff is not wet-its dried.-Its also not in huge amounts but enough for me to notice because Im with him everyday and he gets on my lap to snuggle so I am very aware of anything different.. I tried to feel his eyes and see if I could get some off but hes 10lbs and not helpfull LOL...what should I do???

NO! Not The chuckster!!

If you can Id suggest bringing him inside , warm bath so he can rinse out his eyes, and keep him warm. Im not sure what exactly is wrong, I wish I could help more! If you have a harness that would allow him to walk around whenever so he isnt cooped up. I hope someone else who knows about maybe a soothing mash to feed him gets here soon!

ok Im going to get the Chuckster to the house, How does everyone else keep them outside all winter and they dont get sick? I read on here that most keep them outside with like dog houses and such and they are fine-I always get worried about his feet getting frostbite and such! pictures coming of the bath tub with a duck in it...

Ok here he is-out of his cage following me up the hill and to the house-first picture is on our way down to garage to get him

In the tub with peas to make him go under water and blow his nose out

I dumped water out and hes laying on a dry towel in tub now-but he feels damp I cant leave him in the house overnight the smell is terrible. Dh would kill me. What I can do is leave him in the tub with food and water until I get back from visiting family then hope hes dry because if hes not he will just have to stay in house overnight-then Ill clean his cage reall good again-DH and I decided to put another heating light in that coop closer to his cage to him warmer? He is not sneezing just like a croopy cough-even alarmed Dh and DD's! Poor baby...can I give him anything????

ok so his eyes are better and not crusty anymore but he is still coughing and deep sounding,.. He will stay in the house tonight-DH even agreed as he feels bad for him too-he is our only duck and we both love him. what a stinky mess. I just got back from families houses and cleaned teh tub instantly with fresh water and food again and a dry towel to sleep on-all though he poops all over that! I gave him fresh greens and such with some of my home made bread crusts. I dont know what else do for him? Is this something that wil pass or should he be on meds? I have none here ... anyone...bump bump bump???

Gosh darn it ! I wish I knew more about this kind of thing, Poor Chuck!! Maybe if you post asking for help in the duck forum??

I really don't know. You may want to look through the rest of her articles too and see if anything else fits. I haven't yet had to deal with any sick ducks. I'm sure I will, but so far all I have is what I have read.
