I had noticed a little congestion a few days ago but didn’t think much of it and then one of our farm hands fed the birds for two days and I didn’t spend as much time with them as I usually do. When I came to check up on them, my turkey poult was laying down and obviously not feeling well. He gets up and acts normal but then he lays back down again. I heard that cayenne pepper could help a multitude of ailments but how much do I give? Thanks!

Hi. I'm a chicken enthusiast too. If your chicken are act unnormal, then I think you should take it to a vet or pet hospital. Maybe it has germs in its body, like humans do. I think you better take it to a pet hospital and check. Thank you!

Welcome to BYC! Can you post some pictures of his poop?

Here’s a pic of his poop!

Thank you! I started him on poultry aid for respiratory infections this morning so I am hoping he will feel better asap! He seems brighter today and less pale. I also made him some warm oatmeal with yogurt and egg mixed.

Also, my guineas and muscovies are picking on them. I have both of my turkeys locked in a x-large dog crate in the coop and am allowing them to free range with everyone for a few hours but when they are all in the coop together then they pick on them... Should I move them over to be with the chickens and keep them on cayenne pepper as a preventive for blackhead, etc or do I keep with what I am doing and hope things will calm down when they are older?
