My silkies are about 15 weeks and one of them is significantly bigger than the other. We think Ethel is an Ethan since he/she has been crowing but doesn’t do it every morning. At first I thought the silkie picked up the habit from my other girls who are older and like to yell at me if I don’t get them out of the coop at what they deem an appropriate time. My silkie who we think might be a rooster hasn’t practiced any mating with my other birds nor does it do anything else that makes it seem like a rooster. My question is. If she really is a he, then what is the ratio for a silkie rooster to hens? I would like to keep the silkie if possible.

We currently have 5 other birds. (A female silkie, starlite green egger, black sex link, sapphire gem, and blue Plymouth Rock)

You could post pictures of your birds so we could tell who is a cockerel and who is a pullet, although crowing (at such an early age) is a pretty sure way of telling

Breed doesn't really matter in ratios. Ratios don't matter all that much, actually. It just depends on your individual male. Some make it work with ten females, others with two, others with one, and so on. You'll have to see how your male gets on, and how the females feel about him
