Help! Slow crop/sour crop or something else?!

Hi @casportpony thanks for that info! I found the dosage on another thread for the nystatin and when I weighed my hen she is only tiny at 1lb (this in itself worried me, I’ve no idea how much a hen should weigh, although she has always been small since I got her.)

So your maths (by her weight) would be to give her approx 1.23ml 3 x a day. That’s right isn’t it? We’ve been giving her 1.5ml 2x a day. Do I need to up a dose? Thanks and sorry I sound so useless!

Should it be 1.3ml 3x a day? :hmm

Can you get a photo of the package instructions?

I've never use Flubenvet, that seems to be what's used in the UK. @casportpony may be more familiar with it.
I would follow the package directions and mix as you go. I do know you need to feed for 7 days. It's based on the birds eating their normal rate of food (I think) so...

I'm not sure what you do if they are not eating though! Do you have a vet that can give you any oral dosing of worm medications just for her? Something like Fenbendazole, Levamisole or Valbazen?
Thanks @Wyorp Rock, I created a thread asking about wormer for hens in the UK and got some good advice. I’ve purchased some paste to give them orally for 5 days and will keep the Flubenvet for when they next need worming and mix with food. How often (once or twice a year?) do you recommend worming?

Good news to update, Henny is much more herself today, more alert and moving around and talking to us with a flat crop this morning. Thanks for all your help and advice :D

Hi everyone- sorry to post again on the end of this but I’ve encountered new problems off the back of sour crop.

Henny now is stumbling and her nictitating membrane is obvious over her eyes, slow to retract and she is rubbing at her eyes.

She is eating and seems to want to move I.e. when the others follow me for food she comes along. But she seems unstable. I’ve booked in at the vets for tomorrow but has anyone any idea what this could be? Botulism? Wry neck? Her crop feels as it should now.

Thanks in advance: I’ve had weeks of worry now for my poor girl!
