Help! Something is wrong!

I have a chicken who is making loud screeching noises while she's trying to eat her scratch this morning. Her whole body shakes and she spits out her food. Like a very violent cough or hiccup. Any idea what could be wrong with her? I feel so bad! My video of it won't upload.

Videos seem to not upload here, for me try taking multi photos, is her throat clogged? Try massaging it and comforting her.

I heard about someone doing that with a site i use for hamsters (as i have those to) that makes sense. I dont usually do videos, because i dont have much of a need for them anyway because i can never time them right lol

Your description sounds as if the food vent down the wrong pipe.

We massaged her throat and gave her some water and it worked for a while but now she is doing it again. I don't see any mucus and her eyes are clear and her comb isn't pale. She seems like she might have something stuck in her throat because it happens when she tries to eat. Very loud high pitched honking and spitting food out. I massaged and gave water by syringe and it seems to have helped a bit. Any other suggestions?

Stridor is a sound that can be heard if they get something like a piece of feed stuck in the throat. Some may also sneeze, which is more likely if they have mucus or airway swelling from a respiratory infection. If it clears up in a few hours, it is more likely a piece of feed.

Yep. Cleared up again. I don't know why this one hen keeps having issues lol if it happens again maybe I'll have to switch them to crumble. Although, their scratch also has some whole corn and sunflower seeds too so idk.

I had a hen who gobbled her feed and had stridor a few times in the late afternoon. It cleared both times overnight. You can look inside her beak and throat for anything unusual or blockages. My chickens like to eat some moistened feed, but I would only mix enough for the one day.
