My ducks go out in a run through the day and are shut in at night. They had layed 3 eggs outside this morning and when I went to shut them in tonight the eggs were all gone. What could have taken them. Thankfully the ducks seem fine, I'm worried about them now though. What could it have been?

Last summer, we noticed we weren't getting as many eggs as usual. I walked in the coop one afternoon and found a five foot snake in the nesting boxes with an egg in its mouth!!! :barnie

unless your in the warm south i doubt many snakes are out yet. But rats and minks and weasels crows etc will take eggs.

I am in Scotland so I don't think it will be a snake!? I have seen a few magpies about recently though... Could they manage to take the whole egg away? There was no sign of the shells anywhere.

I'm not sure if a magpie could pick up the whole egg and fly off with it. but a rat or stoat could carry one off, something small. Isn't a stoat like a weasel, now they would go after a duck. I'm thinking rat.
