she has plenty of water. the feed is to expensive to buy though we get the feed we have now for free.
Nevertheless, you must get rid of any feed that has maggots in it. That in itself tells me it is too old to use. I'm sure there are mold spores. Mold spores actually start forming on foods almost immediately, so keeping feed for a year doesn't even sound feasible to me.

I understand, but feed that has maggots in it is no good. I agree, it may be moldy as well.
Feed can be expensive, but if it has gone bad, then you risk losing birds or at the very least they can all become ill with long term effects.
 
Apart from the fact that maggots form in moldy food. Don’t chickens eat maggots? Can’t they eat those maggots?

But yeah do change their food if the feed has maggots. It must have gotten wet or it’s too old.
