In the Brooder
I am new to the chicken world, but learning quickly. I have 8 week old chicks and two days ago I took them outside in a bottom free dog crate for a field trip as we are getting ready to move them to the coop. As we were sitting and watching them one stepped on the other and she began to vomit! It freaked me out so I googled it and upon examination of her, her crop was much larger than anyone else and rather squishy. Her vomit however has little to no odor. So I separated her from the others removed food and added a little baking soda to her water over night. In the morning her crop was better not empty. She had normal droppings and has been acting normal this whole time. I then gave her some plain yogurt a couple times, she ate it fine. Later in the day her crop felt completely empty. I thought well that has to be good. So I gave her some chick feed mashed up with hot water and plain yogurt. She ate it and I removed any remaining food over night. This morning there are more droppings in her cage that are normal, but her crop is still kinda full and squishy. She continues to act normal and can't stand being alone. Is this really sour crop? What should I do next? Feeling very uncertain!!
