Help! Still not laying....the last word was they were pullets..

Those all look rather rooish to me...

Things to look for in a good laying hen:
1) Large red shiny comb.
2) Pin bone measurement. If you can fit two or three fingers between her pin bones, she's laying. Less than two means she hasn't laid in at least a week. The pin bones are located on either side of the vent.

I was SHOCKED to see your pic of #3! He looks JUST like a younger version of my mixed breed rooster Reggie, and I've never seen pics of birds that looked like him. Do you have any idea what breeds yours has in him?

I'm confused, you say you "rescued" them but you're willing to send them back in exchange for other chickens because they're not he gender you want?

Cowgirl71 -- ISA Brown roosters often look just like that.

Yes..we live in city limits and can not keep roos..we are going to try to smuggle the one..but really...4 roos is going to be a little conspicuous...the conditions that these chickens came from in our terms is a rescue...we let our animals free range, feed organic greens and pellets and scratch..their coop for five birds which we were told were 5 pullets is a 12 foot diameter octagon my husband built with nesting boxes and an amazing tiered roost. We have made the investment, spiritually and emotionally to add to our dream of self sustainability..organic garden, well water, food.., nitrogen rich compost..etc..we luckily have an acre 5 minutes from down town austin..the roos came from a shady lyin' chicken lady who kept WAY too many birds, small horses, rabbits and dogs in the same amount of space we have...not in the city..would you like to rescue these roos..I/ made a post on craigs list....???

thanks!

The first one looks like a roo, the second one looks like a hen, third looks like a hen, but I'm not too sure about number three.

I honestly do not want them to go back to that smelly hell they came from..I am hoping that someone will want to adopt them! The power of positive intention,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,putting the energy out there!!!!!

love, light and joy!
