HELP!!! Swollen foot, NOT Bumblefoot!

This is the latest! I don't know what to do! WHAT SHOULD I DO???
It's worse than ever, and she is definitely showing pain.
Ugh. I need help.
Any suggestions for poultry vets near Detroit?

Agree, she needs to see a vet, that is a nasty infection. Her leg may have to be amputated. It is possible for her to live a happy life with one leg,but you will have to make some adjustments to her living environment. Bumblefoot is a staph infection, this has now spread.

Well, Daisy's foot was not getting any better and she was starting to show pain. I decided that amputation was not for her, seeing as most amputee threads I have been reading on here end in culling anyhow. I used the dry ice method found on this forum to put her down, and although it worked quite well, and quickly, she did not just "fall asleep" as the others stated she would. She cried out 3 or 4 times before she was quiet, which ultimately broke my heart! I know what I did was the best for her, but it was hard. Ugh. Thanks for all your suggestions.

Sorry about your little girl.
The crying out is a normal part of their dying process. I have experienced it a few times. I believe at that point they are not conscious, and the crying out and thrashing is a reflex type thing. Knowing this doesn't make it any the less heartbreaking. You did good.

I am so sorry for the end result of this thread. I know how much our chicks mean to us. I would like to add that I had a hen with bumblefoot this past spring. With the help of my husband we treated it and did the surgery. However I placed Prid on the bandage after the surgery and each time that we cleaned the foot. I ordered it from amazon at first but have also found it at walmart in the drug section. It is a drawing cream and worked wonders for our hen. I just wanted to put this out there for future users.

I have the same problem. I have treated Joan, a huge chicken, for bumblefoot and administered 2 courses of antibiotics over the past few months. Now there is no scab but her whole foot is swollen. I agree she is happiest when left alone. I keep trying to decide whether to euthanize her. Poor thing.

I hope you have a good time with your chicken my dad's rooster kinda has the same problem so I also need help it's like if it walks with pain and its foot looks swollen. :(
