It’s that time of year again. When the coop looks like a pillow exploded in it  But molting clearly is a little hard on the birds, and I have a 3+ya hen who recently recovered from EYP. She’s been healthy, until the effects of the molt kicked in and she and her sisters have been sassy and lethargic little things. I know that it’s not uncommon for illnesses to creep up on birds who are molting, and since my hen already had a rough summer, I don’t know how well her immune system recovered after that.

My question is, what are some good immune system boosters for her and her molting flock? What will give them that extra bump of energy they’ll need to stay healthy. I would do scrambled egg, but we haven’t any eggs coming in right now, and I don’t want to use up my store bought eggs on them, unless it’s a table scrap.

You could try some turkey grower or starter.
Thanks! If I try that, would I mix that in with their layer feed or set out a certain amount for them each/set it out as ”take what you need” like oyster shell?

Are all your birds molting?
Just a good 'all flock' type chicken ration(higher protein, lower calcium)....
....and plain fresh water.
