My first thought is also a space issue. How large is your coop and run, in feet? And what breeds are you dealing with?

Can you post current pictures of your birds?

You've had them about a year and a half. This is the time when most birds molt, that could account for the feather loss. Is egg production down also?

Have you checked them for mites?

What specifically are you feeding them?

As stated this has been an issue since her Turkeys died....A long time...Not a moulting issue....

Sorry to hear of your difficulties.

I really feel for you.

Thing is you have a lot of great adviser that have posted before me. And I agree with them. I believe you can get this figure out as well.

Following any # of the suggestions you have been given should improve your situation. Many are waiting to hear back about your coop/run/roost dimensions and your breeds. You just have so many things going on... a lot of it is rooster related, so don't beat yourself up over the two you already got rid of. What done is done. And while you are terribly upset right now, did you start this because you enjoyed it? Try not to let that get away from you..... I can tell you are proactive not reactive in your thinking, ditching them all would be reactive. Come on you can do this! However, make sure you do what IS RIGHT FOR YOU......

Like I wanna say "yay hubby" thinking he's being supportive. But maybe he's pushing his own agenda. Not usually, they want us happy. So in his heart he probably knows how upset you will be long term without your flock, is my guess. So as someone mentioned, set yourself a specific timeline with goals for "a plan of correction".

Hello, welcome to Backyard chickens. Are hens pecking on each other, or is is mainly roosters ganging up on hens? I know in my flock, a rooster will get a hen and start mating with her, then the commotion attracts the other roosters and they literally take turns mating with the hen. The hens have gotten smart, and run away as quickly as possible now. I suggest rehoming the two roosters, whichever ones they may be, to a new flock, you may just have too many roosters and they are creating too much tension with in the flock. Also, what living environment are they in? Do they free range, or are they in a run? If they are in a run, what are the dimensions of the run? Often, when chickens are too crowded, that will lead to cannibalism and feather picking. Hope this helps, and have fun on Backyard chickens!

They are currently in about a 200sqft run an about an 80sqft coop. It isn't the male's...it's the females being mean to each other

It's unusual to have hens or pullets "dogpile" another bird the way your describing. Were the aggressors cockerels by chance?

No...all females and one male

I will post pics when I can get them to stay still long enough! Their run is about 200 sqft, and about an 80sqft coop. I don't see any mites on them. I was told that by feeding them a high protein diet that they would leave each other alone?

A bit more to feeding your birds besides the protein level.....A bit over whelmed you are at the moment.....Try how I feed or some other method....I know what works for my birds....Getting lots of info from other people with about ten different ways of managing your flock....

I do not need to see your pictures of your Birds.....We all learn and hope for help...We all learned....Just takes time and the right teachers...

This is interesting. My next door neighbors were having the very same problem with their flock. I know they fed them well. They tried different things too..nothing worked! They finally just sold them...separately and got new chicks. No problem with this new flock.
