She could have drank too much water at one time. Keep a close watch on her for any other symptoms that you can see. If you can answer the questions on the checklist at the top of the ER section.

I have read the ER page and nothing really tells me why she is throwing up, won't eat and is still rolling her neck and head. Her Crop area is mushy and she is puffing all the area up. I am not surewhat to do? She didn't even have any water that I saw but has been acting funny for 3 days now. She even roosted in one of the nesting boxes last night away from the other girls.

Should I massage the crop? Would being egg bound do that? Is there other symptoms I should watch for or things I can try? She is my youngest and strongest girl. She is never ill and the fact she even let me get near her and pick her up has NEVER happened. She won't let me come within 10' of her ever. SHe is really not doing well.

Any advice/thoughts/treament options is greatly apprecaited!

Her crop area is now really getting swollen and puffed out. Should I massage it to see if she can throw more of what ever up? What should I do?
Please anyone ahve an idea?

Give us the following information. The more you tell us, the better we will be able to help you.

1) What type of bird , age and weight.
2) What is the behavior, exactly.
3) Is there any bleeding, injury, broken bones or other sign of trauma.
4) What happened, if anything that you know of, that may have caused the situation.
5) What has the bird been eating and drinking, if at all.
6) How does the poop look? Normal? Bloody? Runny? etc.
7) What has been the treatment you have administered so far?
8 ) What is your intent as far as treatment? For example, do you want to treat completely yourself, or do you need help in stabilizing the bird til you can get to a vet?
9) If you have a picture of the wound or condition, please post it. It may help.
10) Describe the housing/bedding in use

Remember that we are not veterinarians. We help based on our own research and experiences.
We cannot monitor the board 24/7, and therefore do not guarantee we can always help, much as we would wish to.
We should never be a replacement if real medical attention is required.
If your situation seems to require a trip to the vet, please do so. It is always a good idea to know of an avian vet in your area in case your situation is bad enough that we cannot help. We encourage you to visit the Reference Forum and read up there before you need the information.

Thank you!

1) What type of bird , age and weight.
Austrolope /7/4 lbs
2) What is the behavior, exactly.
Circling her head as trying to bring up the liquid (sounds like liquid in the crop as well) no more throwing up but swelling crop, keeps closing her eyes, making a gagging/gurgling sounds
3) Is there any bleeding, injury, broken bones or other sign of trauma.
NO
4) What happened, if anything that you know of, that may have caused the situation.
Nothing that I saw. 2 days ago she didn't roost but slepp in the bird lay boxes away from the others. I have seen her turn away from food and not be her normal aggrssive self. I also noticed that "One of the girls" is not laying as only 1 egg a day instead of the normal 2
5) What has the bird been eating and drinking, if at all.
Not sure on food/water if at all as I just notcied this not eating and then she started throwing up
6) How does the poop look? Normal? Bloody? Runny? etc.
Normal (clumps solid with also liquid)
7) What has been the treatment you have administered so far?
Nothing as this just started. She wont eat right now or drink as I think her tummy is of course very swollen and bloated so no interest -which is NOT like her at all- she is always first in-line. I have anti-biotics on hand but she is not interestred in any food/liquids
8 ) What is your intent as far as treatment? For example, do you want to treat completely yourself, or do you need help in stabilizing the bird til you can get to a vet?
I am not sure as I do not have any chicken doctors with great knowledge in Charlotte, NC THe only options is they give me antibiotic and/or say put them to sleep.
I just put one down that broke my heart (from old age) and I am just at my end of heartache from my girls
9) If you have a picture of the wound or condition, please post it. It may help.
No pic's/ she looks good, brighter eyes/alert if I come near her but she isn't even moving- NOT like her at all. She is the most scared of Human love than any of my girls
10) Describe the housing/bedding in use
standard dirt floors/hay/straw (same as has been for last 5+ years)

PLEASE if anyone can give any insight what to do. Someone told me maybe she ate something bad and she is just getting rid of it. COuld she be egg bound? Could something be/been caught? Just not sure what to do and I am so worried about her. It is breaking my heart

Try looking up impacted crop. When my hen had an impacted crop I put apple cider vinegar in her water, mixed a little olive oil with egg yolk and gave her that. Then I would massage her crop. Sometimes a warm bath helps too if that is what it is. This has happened only once so I am in no way an expert, just sharing what worked for me. Good Luck.

Start by giving her a bit of bread soaked in olive oil, or other vegetable oil, and isolate her, and don't offer any other food. Then, please read this thread:

It does not sound like this has anything to do with the egg laying process; it sounds like her crop might be the problem. Since it is not hard, I would guess it is not impacted, so that would leave a sour crop. The thread tells the steps involved in dealing with this.

Do you have any idea whether the green was from eating grass or other greenery, or could it have been bile?

On the FAQ page, there are links to several threads about impacted and sour crop, if this thread does not tell you all you need to know.

I hope this works out OK for you and her. Let us know how it is going.
