My dog went into the woods and brought back a couple of eggs.... after a bit of reasearch, a figured out they were turkeys! They are in my incubator but one is starting to bleed through it's shell... WHAT DO I DO?!?!

Frankly, from what I know, all you can do is hope it clots and the little one survives. I had one egg where one of the already-hatched little ones (chicken chicks, though it might not be relevant) pecked at an egg that hadn't finished pipping & zipping yet, and it started to bleed. It did hatch, but too early, and didn't make it. Perhaps an instinctive thing, to go ahead and hatch when there is an issue with the blood supply.

Thank you... I just hope this little guy makes it!

I would wipe the egg off with a dry rag and somehow try to patch the hole possibly with scotch tape or something if that doesn't work I'd just leave it alone and hope it lives. Good luck!

I have been waiting for the opportunity to put cayenne powder on an egg in such a moment. Cayenne stops bleeding quickly.

I've read using candle wax for cracks ... Hopefully the bleeding looks worst that it is, apparently a vein has ruptured/broke. @Eggcessive @Pyxis @oldhenlikesdogs

I always understood that was for eggs that were cracked before one puts them in the bator or for very early on in the incubating process. I'd be worried that the heat from the melted wax could injure the little one worse. Note now that I have been told often that I worry way too much about everything. So, take the opinion with a grain of salt.

Now, this, I would definitely not be afraid to try! Or, if you happen to have a styptic pencil (or the oversized variety that I have in my critter first aid kit) and can grind some of it into a powder, then sprinkle that onto the opening, I'd try that, too. I forgot all about that until I read the cayenne powder suggestion! Don't know whether it's just that I have been very lucky and had to hardly ever use it (bumblefoot surgery was the only time I used it), or that I'm just that forgetful. :lau:old:gig
