So he's still a bit feistier than yesterday but his poop is back to liquid green. We weren't able to get many solids down him but just now I did my first tubing and managed to get 60ml of water with electrolytes, a little bit more medication and some pureed egg yolk down him. It was surprisingly easy - thank you so much Kathy (@casportpony ) for showing me how to do this. I'll let you know how he is in the morning!

So glad you decided to try it! Much easier than the syringe, yes?

How is he today?

Hi Kathy,

Well I'm really not sure. He looks worse overall, but I hope he's not. His poop was yellow and liquid all day on and off, but this afternoon there were two solid ones of a good size and this evening liquid, dark diarrhoea that stank pretty bad. I tubed him around 4 times today with water containing his medication and some rehydration formula and some liquidized egg - I managed around 240ml of this at least, so I think that's a good amount of liquid. I also force-fed him two egg whites, some water-soaked bread and this evening a mixture of peanut butter, chicken food, chickpea flour, cayenne pepper and sunflower seeds, rolled into little balls and coated with oil to theoretically go down his throat easily. It didn't - it was disastrous. So I gave up half way through. I don't think he's eating at all himself now so I feel like I need to get solids down him, but I'm really concerned with the force-feeding that I may drop little pieces down his windpipe. Since this afternoon I've noticed him breathing quite heavily. He opens his mouth on the in-breath. I think it might just be stress - he's not at all used to being handled - but could it be something else?

Also our tame pigeon - one who grew up in the house as he was attacked as a squeaker by a horrible big pigeon in the coop - has suddenly gone off his food today and has watery, yellow or green poop. Could this be linked? It seems far-fetched, but I just feel as though the place is cursed right now with all of our bird-related disasters!!!

I also think that I might have overdosed him a little on the antibiotic. I was supposed to give him half a dog tablet once a day, but I think I lost count and gave him a half this morning and a half just now (evening). Really hope that doesn't hurt him. But to be honest he doesn't seem to be getting better so it might be worth the risk, even if it was accidental. Maybe it will help knock it on the head. Or that might just be guilty hopefulness.
