HELP!!!!update: humidity thru the roof while chicks are still hatching

i just removed the non-skid shelf liner, it was very damp. the 2 center reservoirs have water in them but i did notice droplets of water in the other reservoirs. i also took a gamble and removed most of the hatched chicks, the drier ones anyway, and placed them in a softsided cooler with a bottle filled with hot water so i that i can bring them to the brooder with minimal chill. so far i transported 24 chicks to the brooder which the temp is at 95-100F and they seem to be doing fine. and they are drying off rather quickly. there are still 9 chicks in the incubator that are still a lil bit on the wet side but because of the the high humidity(90%) they don't seem to be drying off.
there are 6 eggs left and out of those 6 there are 2 eggs that i can see the chick poking away, 2 that are pipped & 2 with no pips.
this was obiously all caused by operator error, that would be me.......

Sounds like your doing great!

the chicks that have been wet for a period of time appear to not be drying up. matter of fact their down feather are actually kinda stiff, almost as if they have hair gel on them. will the down feathers eventually fluff up?

Eventually, yes. You have two choices: wait a few days (they'll fluff up in the brooder, but look sort of "punkish" for a while), or carefully wash them in warm water, dry them off, and plunk 'em into the brooder directly under the heat lamp.

I have washed newly hatched chicks before, when they've been sticky all over. They don't like it much, but nice warm water and a dab of Dawn liquid soap will take that goop out of the feathers.

I've also let them fluff up naturally. Depends on your patience level for "how chicks look."

Thanks, I'll try the egg carton trick as I saw it illustrated in picture form here on the forum and try not to get so nervous

i would like to thank everyone.......
so far out of 39 eggs, 37 have hatched. the remaining 2 eggs have not yet pipped.
considering with everything that went on with the humidity up at 98% at one point, transporting several semi-damp chicks at a time in a cooler w/a hot water bottle, i think i'm very lucky that i got 37 to hatch.
