Hello, my name is Michelle and I have been a member here for a while, but for some reason, I can't get in to my "old" account here (also AnimalQuackers).
I am a member in a facebook group of chicken lovers, and recently, a man posted that he had found a rooster he believes to have been used in cockfighting on the side of the road, left for dead, abandoned. He picked up the roo and took him home and has been nursing him back to health. The roo has improved dramatically!
The man, named Dean, lives on Oahu, and is NOT allowed to keep roosters in his neighborhood, and has neighbors who adamantly enforce this rule. He is keeping "Mack" at his work, in a dog crate, but obviously, that can not go on for long. Dean has indicated that his co-workers have lost patience with Mack, and he HAS TO GO!
I will get more info on Mack from Dean, but what I do know is that he doesn't appear to be "sick" so much as just suffering from the effects of being abused. He hasn't acted aggressive, and let Dean clip his horribly overgrown nails and spurs. He is fully feathered, except for his head. No obvious signs of illness, although he has a deformity of his foot.
It's a pretty urgent situation, in that Mack has to find a safe place to stay RIGHT AWAY! Is there anyone in Hawaii that could take him, even temporarily?
Pictures attached - sorry for the quality! They are screenshots of a video Dean posted.
