Help? Vent gleet?

Is this vent gleet? I noticed yesterday that she looked "saggy", her feathers were parted and I saw she was red and swollen. Feels like a tennis ball. There was a bit of dry poo on her feathers. I washed her in Epsom (this is after). I'm adding ACV to the water. Anything else? She's acting normal.

Has she laid recently? Always provide plain water if you put anything in another waterer.

I don't know. I have a handful of brown layers and I don't know which is hers.

Wondering if you found out what the diagnosis was for your hen. Is that mass still there? It doesn't appear to be vent gleet to me. Gleet will show a raw, possibly blood spotty vent with a horrific yellow, chunky discharge with an incredibly foul odor.

With that said, I had two hens with large fluid-like bulges in their abdomen, while otherwise showing no signs of illness. In our case, it was a condition called Ascites, which is a yellow colored fluid buildup from the liver. It needs to be drained and a vet can do it, but technically you can do it yourself. If you go that route, I highly suggest watching several of the available videos on YouTube before attempting it. You can only drain a small portion of fluid every day or few days. It will give your chicken relief, but if you drain too much, you'll send her into shock and there's a good chance she'll die. If it is Ascites, it usually means there's another underlying issue causing it, and draining may or may not help. In our case we had to drain Wilma once every 4-6 months and she was right as rain after that. In our Tulip's case, we drained her once or twice but she didn't last much longer because of whatever we think caused the Ascites to begin with.

I'd be really interested in hearing if you found out what it was and how she's doing now. I'm hoping she's ok.
