You wouldn’t necessarily see the beak thru your hole. The yellowish fluid suggests that it still has some growing time to go. Did you mention what kind of incubator you are using? Did you confirm the temperature with a thermometer that was verified accurate?

Ok, so all that pushing on the membrane like she is..... that could be normal? Like just stretching and moving around? I just read so many awful stories of drowning or not being able to get thru the membrane, shrinkwrapped, etc.... I Worry Way Too Much

Ok. So, I was lead to believe originally that ducks dont usually go broody until 1-2 years. I also never knew about them just getting up. So I went in emergency mode when I saw her up for over 30minutes, then an hour & so on. I made my homeade incubator. Ordered everything else on amazon (2day shipping) I have a mercury thermometer, and ordered the digital thermometer with humidity percentage. Been working off of those. I cant guarantee that they are 100% accurate but hoped the mercury one was closest at least. Normally, I'm a researcher to the max and dont jump into anything until I have a great idea of what I'm doing with prepared materials. This was a complete surprise all the way around so I apologize for looking awful in this.

oh dear, stick around here and you will see everything, so it sounds to me like you did pretty good, for not being prepared. I have a broody Duck now, that is basically just sleeping on them at night, and part of the day. Most of the evening she is running around with the others. I don’t know if any will hatch, but the day guideline is definitely shot!

I honestly feel like maybe your temp was a bit low, but maybe the broody was off the egg a lot more than you saw. So I’m not blaming you or her. I really feel like the movement is great, very active duckling, I think it’s just going to take 2-3 more days to hatch.

Welcome to the Worry Too Much group.
The scary stories are why everyone panics. Ducklings definitely are the biggest patience testers!

And so I have learned. My blood pressure is thru the roof. From what you see, do we believe though that that IS a beak pushing? She is hopefully in the correct position?

I’m honestly still not sure, but I think it’s correctly positioned.

also, keep an eye on the outside of the shell, watching for dark spots to show, like bruises. It shouldn’t happen, but if it does, we’ll deal with it.

Also, we haven’t talked humidity. Have you been monitoring it?

Yes. I definately worked hard to keep the humidity up but....my gauge has been reading 75-80% the past 2 days. It was in the 50-60 range when I first got started. Then read to raise it around Hatch day so I did, but it really jumped up and nownits stuck there. I took out any extra water items and only have 1 bowl now. But its didnt go down should I keep it where it is or maybe put in a smaller bowl?? Not sure

We are also in Georgia, I had a heck of a time keeping the humidity down for the 1st part of incubation as well. We were also reading between 50-60 for the 1st stage of incubation. Ended up with the incubator in an armoire with the doors closed in our bedroom with that door shut too since we weren't running heat or a/c. Kinda ridiculous :)
Hoping you get to see the new baby soon!

Its very humid here also. I incubate with zero water until the last 2 days. Occasionally in cooler weather, I'll have to add a touch of water sooner, but rarely is that necessary for me. But we all have different climates. The Red link in my signature block below explains some of the differences. (if on phone, turn landscape to see signature blocks)
