help w/4 week old

I have a 4 week old chick in the brooder, just noticed it is unable to walk, no pasty butt, but, it's bottom is wet as in runny poop, it is in with six others, any ideas what could be up? They are on medicated chick starter. I got this one out and set it on the floor it just kinda flaps it's little wings and either falls over or moves backwards from wings flapping?

What breed of chick is it? Also, does its head turn sideways or upside down when it is flapping its wings?

Certain breeds are known for neurological problems due to a peck. Also, deficiencies can cause this as well as disease. Some more info may help us figure out what to do.

Jody, It is a barred rock chick, it isn't tucking it's head or anything like that, it is breathing awfully hard, this just came up out of nowhere, the others seem to be fine?

It is gasping for breath now, used a dropper to get it to take some water, not sure what else to try?

giving it three drops of POLYVISOL (liquid childrens A-B-D vitamins) into beak once a day for a week then taper off the next often helps... put electrolytes/vitamins in the waterer.

I was thinking about this little one and came back to check in. How is the chick this morning? Could it have eaten bedding (pine shavings)? Feel the crop to see if it feels like there is food in there. At 4 weeks, it should have been in the clear from risks, but you just never know. Do you have adult chickens that you tend to as well? Sometimes you can transmit something from adults that a chick hasn't built immunity to yet. Something to consider.

Sorry I just got home Mom had a chemo treatment today. Sadly the little guy(I think) didn't make it through the night, not sure what was up with him???? On a brighter note my broody hatched five more last night and today, and Cyn I did slip two of Charlotte's and two of Silver's eggs under her as well as two of the brahma X's she is having a better hatch rate than me, lol.

A good broody is definitely the best way to hatch! I just never have any go broody. Occasionally, one or two will have the initial symptoms, but they just snap out of it too easily. I suspect my Sunny will go broody again soon, though. She's my golden girl! Great mom, wants to adopt all chicks when she's broody, including older ones.

Yep nothing like a good broody, this will be her third hatch, kind of bad of me to keep her on them but as long as she is willing so am I. She hatched five of six eggs so I don't think my bator trouble was fertility of my eggs, lol.
