OK today I got home from work and went out to feed and water my chickens. Their run has a roof over part of it so that they can get out of the sun. I found two paper wasp nest that werent there yesterday. As of right now they are about the size of a baseball. I am deathly allergic to their sting so my question is can I spray the nests tonight with WASP/Hornet spray or will it be bad for my chickens. The one nest is right above where I have their waterer hanging so I need to get rid of this one for sure. Any help would be appreciated.

Ahhhh...sorry, just knocked one down yesterday in my run. I was going to spray (chickens out of the run of course), but I was afraid of whether it would harm the girls. Sorry, that's not an answer. But at least you know there are others going through it too...

I like paper wasps, I've installed inverted brown beer bottles in my fencing for the wasps, they've been building their nests there for years now. I also have wasp habitats set up in my orchard. The wasps are terrific predators of catapillars in the trees. Before I encouraged them, I couldn't hardly have a picnic under the trees or rest in my hammock without the pitter patter of catapillar pellets raining down on the table into the food/ my head etc. As for the nest they try to set up under the eaves......I just knock them down at night, eventully they will go elsewhere to build, there are still plenty of untenanted inverted brown beer bottles in the fenceline. ( The Missus always gives me grief when I send her out for more "wasp habitats" while I'm in my hammock)
