We recently purchased a coop from a local builder. We're very happy with the coop, design and all the nifty features it has. Our problem is building a run that will fit to it without blocking access to the cleaning doors (pictured at front). We have a narrow patch of land and were hoping to build something in the 6'x6' range.

Can anyone with an eye for these things make a suggestion of how best to approach this?

Thanks for taking a look!

more pics might help, if I am seeing right, you could build a run out the side that would leave the door open for buisness

Here are a couple of extra pictures:

The underside and ramp are fully enclosed in chicken wire. The access from the enclosed coop to the run is the large flat panel at the bottom of the coop. We figure that the run will have to extend from the front doors of the coop out, be tall enough for an adult to stand in while not interfering with the access doors for cleaning.

Any thoughts or ideas are appreciated!

you could always take the small section of chicken wire out of the back at the bottom and run a chicken sized tunnel of hardware wire off to where ever it's convenient to have a chicken run, that gives you access to all sides of the coop, you just have to step over the little tunnel.
I've got a simular run for our cats so they can go outside to a few little enclosures around the yard but still be confined from chasing the wildlife, that way you can have small 'pasture' enclosures around the yard with transit tunnels to conect them to the coop and as one run gets turned over the others have time to rest and regrow

From the pictures of your coop, I "assume" the stack is a feed tube, and the two doors are where you will open to clean, etc. These would be useful to be able to access without going through the run. I would build the run on the side with the ramp. I assume the ramp is enclosed so the birds can use the space under the coop as a run. Glad to see you want to add more outdoor space for them:) You could have the height be coop high by the coop, then raise higher if you want to be able to stand in the run. Just remove the chicken wire on the ramp, or at least at the end of the ramp, and let the ramp empty into the new run. Good luck with your chicks!

I think I would box in the entire area where the chicken ramp comes down...all the way up to where the roof ends...and extend out that side in a covered run. That way it doesn't block anything.

Great suggestions! I don't have a picture of the back at the moment, but the rear has access to the nest boxes for collection so that side is being used too. Yes, the stack is a feeder and the doors are for cleaning.

@Henny Penny - Wow! Now that's a run. What a great space and I like the pitch in the roof.
