I need help getting rid of tan-colored mites on my chickens. I have been using garlic and water to spray on them. Is there any thing else I can do?

Also, what’s the best way to create a dust bath? I’ve read that helps a lot.

thank you so much in advance

You're going to want to get ahold of some permethrin dust or spray. The spray will be easier to use when you're doing the coop.

First, dust/spray down the chickens. Then, clean out their coop and dust/spray it down too.

Then you'll want to repeat the process in ten days, since the permethrin won't kill eggs, so you'll need to do it again to kill the new ones that will have hatched since the first treatment.

Permethrin is toxic to cats, just to warn you, so if you have a cat, make sure to do this away from it. If your cat is around your chickens a lot or goes in the coop a lot, etc, you might want to use Sevin dust instead of permethrin. The method is the same.
