HELP...what do you do when a chick is dying?

I have a chick who is 3 days old and not doing well - at least 18 hours. Does not move, but still breathing??!!!

Tell us more....eating? drinking? pooing? Pasty butt? give us more details...if you can.....

no pasty butt...not eating, drinking. i dip her beak in water and she flutters a bit. she does not open her eyes. she just lays there and does nothing. has not moved in over 18 hours.

what do i do?????

try giving it water with a dropper but sounds like it may be to far gone.I would cull it (baking soda and vinegar) most human way.

What about her crop? does it seem large? or her belly? is her belly larger than the others?

What about the temps in the brooder? Can you add electrolytes to the water?

all other (9) chicks doing great!

dying chick will not drink anything. i keep trying to dip beak in water...but she flutters when i do it.

i just hate thinking of taking her life, but do not want her to suffer if there is no chance she can make it!

get an eyedropper and try sugar water or better yet, Gatoraide...did you have her shipped to you? She probably needs fluids...she may be dehydrated and that needs to be corrected immediately....

yes, she was shipped on tues. she was doing GREAT.

Sounds like she didn't handle the shipping well....please get her hydrated...you may just be able to save this baby..don't give up yet...
